Forget all the faces you've missed Remember the hearts that you risk It's when you're tongue tied It's when you can't hide You follow the words from the caves
Take your last supply To leave this h͎̟̳̮̦̼o͈̱̖͜͝m̷҉͎͝ȩ̸̩̩͈̲̹͓͈͜ behind You follow the words from caves
Tear up the letters you've saved From all the L̴̸̦̺̘̣̠̩̳̠͒̋ͩͭ̌̋̓͛̈́ͫ̋̿̅ͮͣͣͧ̓ͭȎ̢͎̜͈͓̟̱̫̪͐̏͂̓́ͯ͑̎̏̿̆͋̆͌̿͆͘͜͢͝V̷̼͉͖̌͗ͦͨ̑̔ͅE̢̩̩͙̪ͤ̓̓ͪ̀͢͟͠ led astray It's from the white lies When you were knee high You follow the words from the caves
Take your last supply To leave this h͎̟̳̮̦̼o͈̱̖͜͝m̷҉͎͝ȩ̸̩̩͈̲̹͓͈͜ behind You follow the words from caves
All I feel is emptiness here Searching for what you want me to say I'm terrified by their eyes when they stare This loneliness won't go away
Your eyes say so much to me Your eyes say so Your eyes say so much to me Your eyes say so
Nobody knows who I am I've got intentions of gold with my plans Nobody knows who I am I've got intentions of gold with my plans
I've realized nothing I do feels right Lost in my head and out of sight Dreaming of the day when I leave And what the world has left for me
Your eyes say so much to me Your eyes say so Your eyes say so much to me Your eyes say so
Nobody knows who I am I've got intentions of gold with my plans Nobody knows who I am I've got intentions of gold with my plans
SANS THE SKELETON
Every lover is, in his heart, a madman; and, in his head, a minstrel.
A very special monster with a very special place in Frisk's soul. Literally.
Sans is many things at once to them, a whirlwhind of contradictions - he is their judge and their executioner, yet he is their guardian and family; his SOUL is a fragile thing even by monster standards, yet it resonates with a power enough to find the melody of Frisk's; he can be distant and closed-off, yet effusively warm like golden sunlight. Sans is difficult for Frisk to read, even harder to predict, and at no time was this more prevalent than when he discovered they came from a doomed timeline. Where Frisk expected a sharp denial, like Toriel's, instead they found a strained but sincere attempt from Sans to reconcile their actions with the child he knew.
Over time, the injury to their relationship repaired; Frisk found acceptance from their judge and executioner, and has slowly come to believe that Sans' interest in them is from a place of genuine love and not mere fear of the anomaly. Sans has proven again and again that he cares, despite claims he doesn't remember making from a timeline he didn't live. Frisk has thrown their determination into maintaining the flicker of hope they see still struggling to exist in Sans - part of this process involved learning Soul Resonance in an attempt to keep him from Falling Down, and aside from their Partner, Sans remains one of the most powerful connections Frisk has formed on a soul-deep level. His complicated relationships with Toriel and Chara, two other people of great importance to Frisk, only deepens their concern for his emotional state and belief in his sincerity.
Sans is perhaps the person Frisk trusts most in the world, because he accepts them without fully understanding them, loves them while acknowledging that they've done terrible things. He's their hero in many ways, their responsibility in some others - but he's family, as much as he's accepted them as part of his, and though he mirrors someone else in enough ways for fear to color the periphery of their trust.
Sans' shadow has recently revealed what Frisk always figured: he doesn't fully trust them not to Reset. That's OK. They don't, either. That's why they're going to make sure it's one mistake he'll never be forced to love them through.

Why isn't he happy?
